Happy 35th Anniversary to Dad and Mom !

35 years, I just wonder how many 35 years in a perons's life time ? Two at most. And how many couples could share 35 years of marriage together ? Perhaps not too many. Yet, with the grace of God, my Dad and Mom just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary yesterday.

I'm so blessed with a pair of Godly parents who both devoted their time to teach and develop me in a Christian family. Everything I learn about family, marriage or parenthood are based on the words of God -the best principles one could follow for a life time. While differences in values, personalities and likes and dislikes are narrowing between two persons as time passes by, it's never practicable to expect that one day there'll be no conflicts or differences between two distinct individuals.

So how to maintain a life shared between a couple ?

I believe the answer is again the words of God, 1 Corinthians 13, a passage which I recently find so meaningful and fond of :

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
Love never dies. [ The Message ]

If you'd notice, "Love" is not a concept or an ideal, rather it's all verbs, all about actions, behaviors, expressions of your character, ways of telling your significant beloved others how much you "love" them.

Thanks to God that I am lucky enough to be able to witness "love" in such a way on my parents. 35 years of marriage with the love of God !
