Today's reading at ODB is from Ephesians 3:1-9, a conviction or a cry for outreach by apostle Paul. Although in jail and in chains, Paul saw himself as a prisoner of Christ and he took the view that his hardship as an opportunity to bring the gosepel to the Gentiles, in whatever circumstance.
Perhaps with the privilege of being raised in a Christian family, the desire to share the gospel has never been very strong in my heart. Enlightened by the upcoming evangelical meeting 9.17「愛在人間」佈道會 and the 40天祝福大行動 started by a kick-off prayer meeting last night, I know God never let me go away with such an important lesson unlearned. While I was preparing the worship for the kick-off prayer meeting, a hymn was repeatedly played in my Ipod and now stays in my heart. Here's the beautifully written hymn :
People Need the Lord
1) Everyday they pass me by, I can see it in their eyes,
Empty people filled with care, headed who knows where.
On they go through private pain, living fear to fear,
Laughter hides the silent cries, only Jesus hears.
2) We are called to take His Light,to a world where wrong is right,
What could be too great a cost, for sharing life with one who's lost.
Through His love our hearts can feel, all the grief they bear.
They must hear the words of life, only we can share.
Chorus:
People need the Lord, people need the Lord,
At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
When will we realize, people need the Lord.
