Today's ODB is from Psalm 51, a piece that we studied together at an elders's home 2 weeks ago. Here the author wrote : God didn't need the animals offered to Him in sacrifice. In the Book of Hebrews says, "It is no possible that the blood of bulls and goats coudl take away sins" (10:4) It all pointed to the once-for-all payment Jesus made with His own blood when He died for our sins.
So what is God looking for in sacrifices from us ?
"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart - these, O God, You will not despise." 51:17 God wants our repentance for our sins, our true attitude when making our sacrifices.
We were reminded at the elder's bible studies that we should : 1) identify and admit our wrong-doings specifically, 2) truly repent and be determined to correct it, 3) testify it to others, and 4) ask God to sustain us to avoid from doing it again.
Let's pursuit holiness and be the "victorious servants" for our God!
