My reading at ODB today is the book of 1 John 1: 5-10.

The writer concludes :"Confession is the soil which forgiveness fourishes." I remember that there is a teaching of formula for prayers : 敬1) praise, 認2) confession, 感3) thanksgiving, 求4) supplication (i.e. ask for what you need). While it is easy to forget Confession in our prayer time, I'm reminded today that it's something as important as our praise, needs and thanksgiving to God. And God is so promising that He will forgive us as soon as we admit our wrongs.
我們若說自己沒有罪，就是自欺，真理就不在我們裡面了。我們若承認自己的罪， 神是信實的、公義的，必定赦免我們的罪，潔淨我們脫離一切不義。約翰一書 1:8-9
